IRRADIATED SANI-CHIPS®

PROCEDURES

We start with premium quality Sani-Chips®.  This product is always species specific and screened to the same size.  It is also manufactured to meet both NIH and NTP product specifications.

Sani-Chips® are next certified, with the date of manufacture placed on each bag.  At this time every bag is also marked with a yellow radiation marker.

A composite sample is then sent to a lab for analysis.  The lab uses specific approved procedures for every analysis.

The Sani-Chips® are also transported to the irradiation facility, where they receive a dose of approximately 15 megarads.  At this point, the yellow radiation marker turns orange/red, indicating that the Sani-Chips® have been exposed to radiation.

The irradiator next sends a sample to the testing lab for the microbiologicals procedures to be done again, confirming the sterility of the product.

Finally, the customer receives our paper work, which includes the initial lab analysis for certification, the lab analysis of the microbiologicals after irradiation, and a copy of the irradiator's analysis of dose.
